Midland Man Accused Of Trying To Bribe Police Officer During Arrest

MIDLAND -- A Midland man is accused of driving drunk and trying to bribe a police officer.
Victor Manuel-Hinostro Muniz was arrested on March 7th.
Midland Police say Muniz, 21, was impeding traffic in a red 2000 Ford F-150 in the1200 block of North Lamesa Road around 9:55 PM on March 7th when he suddenly made a left turn in front of oncoming traffic.
An oncoming tan pickup truck reportedly swerved into the path of a police cruiser in order to avoid hitting the Ford F-150, and officers in the cruiser proceeded to follow Muniz.
Officers pulled over Muniz in the 1100 block of East Cuthbert Avenue.
An officer reportedly asked Muniz if he had been drinking, and Muniz allegedly said that he hadn't had anything to drink.
However, Muniz reportedly told the officer on the scene that he had indeed been drinking.
Police say Muniz proceeded to fail every single field sobriety test he undertook.
Muniz then reportedly told officers that he'd drank 6 Dos Equis beers and at least 3 Patron tequila and Red Bull cups before getting behind the wheel.
Meanwhile, officers reportedly found a digital scale that had cocaine residue on it in the ashtray of the truck.
Muniz was immediately taken into custody.
However, on the ride to the Midland County Detention Center, Muniz reportedly offered officers $500 for his release.
As the cruiser approached the jail, Muniz reportedly officers $1,000 for his release.
Police reportedly denied both offers.
Now, Muniz is charged with D.W.I., possession of a controlled substance (less than a gram) in a drug free zone and bribery.
As of Monday evening, Muniz was no longer listed in jail records in the Midland County Detention Center.
