George P. Bush Running For Texas Land Commissioner

FORT WORTH -- The grandson of former president George H.W. Bush and the nephew of former president George W. Bush is launching is own political career.

    George P. Bush announced Tuesday that he's running for Texas Land Commissioner in 2014.

    Bush currently works as an attorney and consultant in Fort Worth.

    As a native Texan -- and Spanish speaker -- Bush says his Republican Party roots run deep.

    Bush has worked on a number of G.O.P. campaigns --  including campaigns involving his grandfather, uncle and father.

    Bush was also a co-founder of the Hispanic Republicans of Texas.

    The Texas Land Commissioner's Office administers state-owned lands and mineral resources. The office is often viewed as a post that can be a stepping stone to a higher office.
