ODESSA -- Animal Control officers were sent to North Everglade around 3pm Thursday, after getting a report of a 12-year-old being bitten by a pit bull.

Odessa Police report that the boy was walking down the street when a gray, female pit walked up and bit him on the hip.  Police say the boy had a visible wound, but they couldn't determine if it was an actual bite.

The child did not need medical treatment.

The dog was seized by animal control, since that's protocol. She will now spend the next ten days in quarantine.  Police report that the dog was up-to-date on all vaccinations.
