ODESSA-- This weekend hundreds gathered for the Permian Basin Gun Show over at the Ector County Coliseum. Big 2's Jenne Anderson spoke with several gun enthusiasts who tell us the price for guns and ammunition is up and in short supply.

Michael Tibbts has been selling gun supplies for the past 15 years.

"Sell some ammo; I'll sell some guns," said Tibbts. "I meet a lot of interesting people."

But in his all his time in the business, Tibbts says he's never seen an ammunition trend like this one

"Ammunition supplies and sales have changed dramatically since the election," explained Tibbts. "Particularly since the shooting."

This makes Tibbts' job a little tougher as he struggles to stock his shelves, while dealing with frustrated customers.

"They do not like the prices of course," said Tibbts. "They're concerned about the supply situation."

And Tibbts isn't the only one dealing with this situation.

"There's just a shortage all over the united states on ammunition," stated John Pokorny, who spear-heads the Permian Basin Gun Show.

Pokorny tells us ever since the Sandy Hook shooting there's been a large spike in the number of people who come out to these kinds of events.

"More people are afraid of guns they can't get," said Pokorny. "Or afraid they'll be taken away and you can't buy them."

As the Federal Government looks deeper into creating more gun control laws, Porkorny fears that his constitutional right to bear arms will be taken away.

"Every time they take one right away from you that's part of your constitution that you're losing" said Pokorny. "And every time they do that you lose a little freedom."

And that freedom is key for every one of these gun activists

"Free men protect themselves," said Tibbts.
