SCURRY COUNTY -- Authorities continue to gather the remains of a body found in Scurry County over the weekend.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers say that someone found the human remains near Lake J.B. Thomas on March 16th.

Texas Rangers, D.P.S. troopers and Scurry County law enforcement have since been working to recover the remains.

Troopers say that the remains appear to have been spread by wildlife -- indicating that the remains have been in the area for a while.

Authorities have not yet been able to identify the remains, and the age and gender of the remains are still unknown.

The remains will either be sent to the Lubbock County Medical Examiner's Office in Lubbock or the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office in Fort Worth once they're recovered.
