Plans are in the works to add almost 1,000 parking spaces to the Airport. They would be built in three phases, with the first phase beginning this summer, and adding about 200 spaces.
Airport officials say that during busy travel times, like the holiday season, they are running out of spaces and people park on fields that can serve as overflow lots. With the population of West Texas continuing to grow, they expect that this will only get worse.
Renovations are also being done inside the airport. The food area is being revamped and a new Tex-Mex style Sports Bar called Peppers is being built. That should be ready to open in June.
