Lamesa Mayor Dave Nix told The Lamesa Press-Reporter that the Lamesa City Council could choose a new city manager during their meeting on April 2nd.
Otherwise, Lamesa City Council members will likely make a decision during their April 16th meeting.
Lamesa City Council members interviewed a candidate behind closed doors during their meeting on March 20th, and they interviewed 3 other candidates earlier this month.
The applicant who is hired on will replace longtime Lamesa City Manager Fred Vera.
Vera -- who has served as Lamesa City Manager since June 16, 2003 -- is planning on retiring on May 30th.
If Lamesa leaders stick to their timetable, the new hire will be able to have a transition period while Vera is still in office.
