ODESSA -- An Odessa man accused of acts of violence against women is now one step closer to trial.

Joe Alvarez Jr. was indicted on 4 total counts for aggravated sexual assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault and  indecency with a child with sexual contact earlier this week.

Odessa Police say that Alvarez, 41, dragged a woman out of a vehicle by her hair on July 28th and forced her into another vehicle.

Alvarez then reportedly forced the victim into another vehicle, took her to his home and sexually assaulted her against her will.

The victim and Alvarez had reportedly been in a relationship for 5 years, but police say she left him two weeks before the assault.

Alvarez was arrested on September 12th.

As of Thursday evening, Alvarez was being held in the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on $1 million bond.
