As Houston’s mayor, Bill White made a name for himself. He did things to improve the lives of his constituents.

“Texans from all backgrounds want a good job with a future, Texans from all backgrounds want a safe neighborhood to live in, Texans from all backgrounds want affordable housing that is decent and a home they can own," White told a group of his supporters during a meet and greet at Ajuua’s Mexican Restaurant in Odessa.

Mike Holmes told Big 2 he’s voting for White because he’s disappointed with Governor Rick Perry.

“We need leaders that have a progressive idea of what education is and not a regressive one that takes things like Jefferson and takes him out of educational, you know the books," said Holmes.

White served as the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy under President Bill Clinton. He has about 35 years of experience in the natural gas business. While working in the energy business White helped build energy services firms in the Basin. He’s also against price regulation on oil and gas.

“Whenever you mess with the pricing in the market all you do is create an artificial shortage,” he said.  And on cap and trade… I think it’s a clumsily, bureaucratic way to try to reach a desired result.
