Although Spirit Airlines might not fly into the Midland Airport, your connection flight might be affected. All, Spirit Airlines flights were canceled Saturday due to a pilots' strike.

An estimated 18,000 passengers were affected.  Apparently, the pilots can't reach an agreement with management on benefits and pay issues.

Although the airline carries less than 1% of US passenger traffic, the negotiations are being closely watched by other airline unions that are on the verge of their own contract talks.

The last strike involving a US airline occurred in 2005 when Northwest Airlines mechanics walked off the job.
