Odessa Power Outage, Problem Solved

By: Stephanie Sobic
Updated: June 20, 2010

Close to 1400 people in Odessa went without power for about an hour Saturday night. Luckily, the outage was around 7 and it was still light out, so crews were dealing with it being too dark out.

According to Oncor Energy's Spokesperson, Sue Mercer, the outage was due to failed underground cable. Crews were able to fix the problem by getting customers electricity from an alternative route. In total, the black out lasted for about an hour and majority of the outage affected the mall and surrounding areas.

Stop lights lost power too, but OPD told big there were no traffic accidents as a result of the power out.
