This year, it seems like more people are getting into the Fourth of July spirit. The weather we've had throughout the past couple of months might have something to do with it. The Basin has gotten plenty of rain this year, unlike previous years.

"In the past, people have been reluctant to buy fireworks because the weather was extremely dry," said Baylie Heifner, a salesperson for Truckload Fireworks in Midland

Truckload Fireworks has only been open for two days, but fireworks are flying off the shelves.

"Yesterday was a good day. We sold a lot of stuff. We are already out of a lot of stuff. So, we're waiting on more shipments; we’re going to restock and get ready for the weekend," Heifner told Big 2.

It’s unusual for them to do so well on the first day they're open.

"Usually the first day is pretty slow. This year we did a couple hundred," explained Heifner.

Remember it’s illegal to light fireworks within city limits. Use common sense, and light them in safe areas, where homes and buildings cannot be damaged.
