A descendent of a Native American tribe is being deported from the United States. Erick Bonilla works in the oilfield. For the past six years, he's been living illegally in Odessa and was convicted in federal court of being an illegal alien.
Bonilla was born in Juarez, Mexico, and Judge Rob Junell said that his tribal affiliation didn't offer him any special priviledges.
He'll be sentenced in September and could get two years in prison. After that, he's expected to be deported.
Defense attorney's fought to have him granted citizenship, since he is affiliated with the Lipan Apache tribe.
