After being on the run for almost 48 hours, the escaped Midland County inmate was captured Monday afternoon.

It was the classic tale of you can run but you can't hide. It was when this Tyric Andrews tried to hide...that's when he got caught. After 18 year old Tyric Andrews escaped from jail, it didn't take long for him to end up back in cuffs.

"This afternoon at about 12:25, Detective Daniel Espanoza was out and spotted the escapee at Big Spring and Scarbauer," explains Lt. Ray Leible.

Detective Espanoza immediately called in for back up and the hunt was on.

"MPD, patrol units, detectives, MISD police we also called, DPS for air support," says Lt. Leible.

Once a perimeter was set and police were confident they had Andrews trapped, they let the K-9 unit sniff him out.

"To an abandoned house on North Main, the suspect was hiding in an old storage unit and was taken into custody without incident," says Lt. Leible.

Andrews was taken back to jail, which is a place he's several times before.

"The detectives here at the PD have been working cases on him, so they know him on sight,” explains Leible.

All in all from the time Andrews was spotted, to the time he was back in cuffs, it took police less than 30 minutes.

Also want to add, Andrews was a low risk inmate and he was booked for violating his probation on a auto theft charge.
