The Kiwanis Club of Odessa and J.C. Penney joined forces to help 20 kids get new school clothes. This is the 18th year the Kiwanis Club of Odessa has organized the event, but its the first time to do it with J.C. Penney.

Community sponsors help fund the event so 20 kids feel special and get to go on a shopping spree for new clothes and supplies...helping them get the school year started off right.

"We help them shop so they make wise choices and most of them need shoes, socks, underwear, pants and maybe a light jacket if you have enough money," Dale Childers, Kiwanis president, said.

He says the program has more kids than dollars, and for next year he hopes the Kiwanis Club can expand to include more kids.
