Midland City Council Passes Property Tax Increase

After hours of heated debate, the Midland City Council passed the
first vote on the city budget Tuesday night.
A unanimous vote following Tuesday night's meeting includes a 5 percent property tax increase.Frustrated Midlanders packed City Council chambers to fight the increase Tuesday. Some suggested making budget cuts instead.
In response, city leaders said they need to raise revenue, and that most cuts would be too hard on city services and employees.
