Midland United Way Creates New Fundraising Opportunity

By: Dylan Brooks
Updated: August 31, 2010
United Way of Midland announced a new funding opportunity to keep kids in school called the Community Initiative Grant last November.
The organization has since approved $200,000 to be distributed over two years for the 2010 grant cycle.  On Tuesday they announced who'll receive the funding.
"The community initiative grant is for a collaborative approach," Alice Friedline of United Way told Big 2. "That collaboration includes four different organizations: Rays of Hope, Communities in Schools, Education Foundation, and M.I.S.D. Office of Accountibility."
These organizations will come together to address  each of their own concerns and work together to try and accomplish more than any single group can accomplish on it's own.
