The family of the Pecos teenager who died on Monday- is searching for answers about her death. Tabby Garcia, 18, was in a truck with a friend last Thursday, when she jumped out of a speeding vehicle on Highway 17, according to the Reeves County Sheriff’s Office.  Authorities tell Big 2 News Lee Arredondo, 27, was the driver of the truck.

"He [Arredondo] just said they were driving down the road talking, when she got upset, opened the door and jumped," said Jerry Millan, a deputy with the Reeves County Sheriff’s Office.

Garcia’s family admits their love one wasn’t a perfect person, but they tell Big 2 News she wouldn’t have jumped of out a speeding vehicle.

“She wouldn't leave her daughter like that, she loved her too much,” said Garcia’s sister Arely Mendez.

Garcia’s mother is feeling excruciating grief over the death of her daughter.

"It hurt me,” said Noraina Mendez, Garcia’s mother.

Garcia was Mendez’s youngest daughter and will be the second daughter she’ll have to bury. Mendez doesn’t believe her daughter was suicidal.

“She was full of life,” she said.

Authorities tell Big 2 News Arredondo is fully cooperating with them. He has even offered to take a polygraph test. This case could be taken to a grand jury. Meanwhile, the family is having a hard time paying for Garcia’s funeral. Tomorrow they’ll be holding fundraisers at the Pecos Wal-Mart and at the car wash on Eddy Street.

Those with information about this incident are urged to call the Reeves County Sheriff’s Office at 432-445-2631.
