This Labor Day weekend, a lot of people decided it was time for a change of pace, and headed to the 24th annual Marfa Lights Festival.

"I'm having a great time here. I love it,” said a festival-goer.

Every year, people from all over Texas and the country travel to Marfa to be a part of the celebration.

“We are having a blast. This is the first time I've been to Marfa,” said El Paso resident John Contreras.

The three-day event had various funfilled activities for the entire family.

“We have live music, we have wonderful food,” said Mona Garcia, one of organizers of the event. “We have people selling jewelry, and art of all kinds.

Participating in the Marfa Lights Festival has become a tradition for some families.

“We’ve been doing it [cooking and selling food at the festival] for 5 years. It gives us something to do. It brings the family back home together and everything,” said Tony Verzosa, whose family likes to cook for event-goers at the Marfa Lights Festival.

But the best part of all:

[Seeing] the Marfa lights viewing area,” said Arlene Acosta, who was at the festival with her friends and family.
