It's not very often that schools across America take a break from their normal routine. But also it's not very often the President makes an address specifically targeting school-aged children.
That's why most teachers paused to turn on their televisions and hear what President Obama had to say Tuesday. He spoke about his upbringing with biracial and divorced parents.
Big 2 spoke with kids and teachers at Bohnam Junior High in Odessa. It looks like both learned something from the speech, not only about the importance of education, but a problem that seems to be getting worse and worse in schools across the country - bullying.
"I think it was good that he addressed that," teacher Brandon Cook told Big 2. "Giving a message to those kids that we know your out there."
"Keep working hard and stick with it and don't give up and keep your goals high," said 8th grader Ryan Wilhoit.
Last year, a lot of parents were hesitant to let their kids watch the Obama's back-to-school speech. Some schools even gave parents the chance to take their kids out of class. This year, it seems like the vast majority were much more accepting to let their children hear what the President had to say.
