The Buffalo Trail Council of local Boy Scouts is trying to plan their next move, after learning that they are losing grant money from the United Way of Odessa.

Last year they got a $50,000 dollar grant from the United Way to help fund learning for life and Cub Scouts of America. Now, after some discussion, the United Way has decided to drop the grant, putting the Boy Scouts in the position to try and make up the cash.

"We're focusing on some fundraising that we would not normally be doing at this time of the year," Buffalo Trail Council CEO Lyman Gifford told Big 2. "This is the time of year we're involved in recruiting kids and getting them involved in the program."

The council plans on doing a big fundraiser in October, and are also looking at what cuts they can make to keep providing as much help as possible to the kids.

The United Way of Midland has said that all United Ways are local, autonomous, and have their own board of volunteers.
