Many West Odessans were affected by the 22 hour shootout. School buses had to find alternate routes and nearby neighbors were evacuated from their homes. Big 2 spoke with one man who watched it all unfold.

The first shots were fired around 4 o'clock on Friday while Hugo Garcia was still at work. When he found out what was going on he rushed home to be with his wife, but had no idea how long the shootout would last.

Just a few days ago University Blvd. was completely blocked off...full of law enforcement agencies from across the state. It's now been reopened, and just across the street...Hugo Garcia and his wife Suzie watch as the investigation takes place.

"I saw it. I pretty much felt it. I could hear the gunshots for the first three hours of the show. It went on for 19 more hours," Hugo Garcia, Victor Whites neighbor, said.

He may have had a front row view from his own home, but says he didn't realize how bad it was until outside agencies started rolling up onto his property.

"I was looking out the window and I actually saw him shooting and stuff. I didn't really get down till the SWAT team rolled up to my house. That's when I got down on the ground and realized this is serious," Garcia said.

He never actually met White, but says his dad had spoken with him several times...and just considered him another typical guy.

“He didn't seem like a bad guy the way my father talked to me about him...I guess sometimes you just get to your reaching point where you get mad and you react to it," Garcia said. “It's crazy because you don't expect stuff like this to happen out here in Odessa, especially in West Texas."

He said he feels like White could have shot in his direction at anytime, but he didn't and he thinks it's because Whites anger was geared toward law enforcement.
