Motivational Speaker Talks To ECISD Students

Updated: September 27, 2010

One of the most important things school districts are focusing on these days are graduation rates. But there's only so much schools can do.
Sometimes, the students need to believe they can succeed. That's why motivational speaker Jimmy Cabrera was at U.T.P.B. Monday, speaking to E.C.I.S.D. students about what they can do today to get to college and improve their lives.
"His stories are very relatable, and you can notice through the expression on the students when Jimmy talks, they get it, and they can relate to it, " Avid Coordinator Jonathan Grant Browl told Big 2.
Many of the students that the presentation was geared towards were first generation college students. The speech was designed to inspire them to pursue higher education.
