Shooting at University of Texas

Armed subject reported last seen at Perry Castaneda Library on the University of Texas Campus.

Reports of a shooting first came down at around 8:25 a.m. at the library at 21st and speedway.

At this time details are slim. The report was of a person with an automatic weapon and shots had been fired.

At around 9:10 a.m.  Austin Police Chief Acevedo says the suspected shooter in the library had shot himself on the sixth floor and was dead. Police are also searching for possible second shooter.

At this time there are no reports of other injuries.

An email to UT students has warned everyone on campus to seek shelter and to not emerge until an all-clear is sounded.

APD SWAT is on the scene with an armored personnel carrier and a helicopter in the sky surveying the area.
