It's taken years of preparation, but Midland County now has a new courthouse.
The new building first opened on Monday, but today they held a grand opening at the Heritage Center. The county was in their old courthouse for 80 years, and a lot has changed since then.
For example, the original courthouse was built with just one courtroom. The new one has 10. And there's another thing about this building that the county is proud of.
"The building is paid for," Midland County Judge Mike Bradford. "It has no debit on it and it was done predominantly with sales tax. So that's an exceptional piece of work by Commissioners Court."
Another big item is that this new building has plenty of parking for everyone. It has also has new elevators and a lot of other features that will make it easier for the county to conduct their business.
