We never know when disaster will strike.
On Wednesday, some of the Basin' first responders were getting to practice, as if there was a real-life disaster on a Conoco Phillips drill site.
"It's one thing to read about it. It's another thing to practice it,"  Sgt. Gary Duesler of the Ector County Sheriff's Office told Big 2. "So they got a scenario going on out here and we are reacting and trying to see how we can best take care of the situation safely."
Among those participating in the disaster drill included the Odessa Fire Department, the Ector County Sheriff's Office, D.P.S., Ector County Emergency Management, and the Local Emergency Planning Committee. Medical Center Hospital and Odessa Regional were also on hand during the drill.
