Several banks have frozen foreclosures, as they review paperwork to make sure it was filed correctly. Now, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is joining them in looking at that paperwork.
Abbott joined the Mortgage Foreclosure Multistate Group Wednesday. The group of 49 attorneys-general will see if lenders followed proper procedures and state laws.
The group is paying close attention to alleged robo-signing, where lenders reportedly signed foreclosure documents electronically without reading them first.
