Three children were airlifted and five others were transported to two
West Texas hospitals after a
chemical truck collided with a school bus Wednesday afternoon.
The crash happened north of Big Lake around 4:30 PM Wednesday. Reagan County Sheriff Jeff Garner told Big 2 that the driver of the chemical truck fell asleep at the wheel while driving on TX 137 near Stiles. He woke up, but couldn't stop the truck in time, and he rear-ended the bus.
Of the eight people on that bus, only two were able to walk away. Five students and the bus driver were taken to Midland Memorial Hospital and a hospital in San Angelo. Three of those students had to be airlifted. The truck's driver was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. The conditions of everyone injured in that crash is unknown.
