A man was killed in Midland early Thursday morning after robbery suspects crashed into the street sweeper he was riding in.
The accident happened at Illinois and Powell around 3 AM Thursday. Police say Toni Lopez, 22, was speeding in a stolen Chevy Suburban on Powell when she ran a stop sign at the intersection of Illinois and hit the street sweeper.
Ronnie Lee Randolph was thrown from the street sweeper. Randolph, 33, was then crushed to death by the street sweeper. Donald Clark, 53, who was driving the street sweeper, was taken to the ICU at Midland Memorial Hospital. That sweeper was not owned or operated by the City of Midland.
Rashad Bell, 22, and Sabrina Kalinolski, 25, were passengers in the Suburban. They were taken to Midland Memorial Hospita, and Kalinolski was later taken to a hospital in Lubbock. Police say Bell had just stolen $170 from the Midtown Hotel, which could have explained why the Suburban was speeding north on Powell.
Police also say that Lopez is a suspect in Saturday's theft of the truck. She left the scene of the accident. If anyone knows her whereabouts, they should contact Midland Police.
