Thousands of Chevy Impalas are being recalled because of a problem with their safety restraints.
The recall was announced for 300,000 Impalas. General Motors says that the front seat belts in 2009 and 2010 Impalas may not be secured to the lap belt anchor pretensioner. Because of this, the straps can come loose during a crash, and the driver wouldn't be kept in place.
No injuries have been reported because of this defect. Dealers will start mailing people later this month on how they can get a free repair.
