Christmas for OUR Troops Begins Collecting Donations

MIDLAND -- It all started 7 years ago, when Scott Davis had the idea to put together five care packages for fighting men and women overseas. Since then, his mailing campaign has taken off.
This year, Christmas for OUR Troops is going to be putting together 2,500 boxes of supplies and snacks for our fighting men and women. 2,000 will be put together in Midland, and for the first time, five hundred will be assembled in Odessa. This lets people in both cities come together to help with the project.
The packages will be assembled on December 8th at the First Presbyterian Churches in Midland and Odessa, starting at noon. That lets people volunteer on their lunch breaks if they want too. Now, they need to collect items for the drive:
TOILETRIES & MEDICAL
Tylenol 100 tablets
Pepcid 30 tablets
Claritin 10 tablets box
Antibacterial ointment ˝ to 1 ounce
Anti-bacterial soap 8 ounce liquid
Cough drops 20-30 droplet package
Eye drops ˝ ounce
Deodorant 2.5 ounce
Kleenex small pocket size
Toothpaste & Toothbrushes 4.5 ounce – TRAVEL SIZE
Tooth Brushes regular
Band-aids 30-45 per box
FOOD & DRINK
Cocoa individual packages
Powdered Gatorade small packages
Powdered lemonade “ “
Trail mix 6 ounce
Sunflower seeds 3 ounce
Nuts +3 ounce
Jerky 3.5 ounce
Ramen noodles
FUN & NECESSITIES
Socks medium & large white or black athletic
Batteries AA 4 or 8 per package
DVD’s & CD’s old movies, new releases
Magazines/paperbacks new (auto, motorcycle, hunting, sports, etc.)
Christmas cards handmade by children or signed with your name
Toys Frisbees, nerf balls, gliders
Hoppe’s #9 Gun solvent small bottle
Gloves Knit with rubber buttons for warmth and protection
Knit Caps Black or olive drab
Note: CFOT purchases several items in bulk directly from manufacturer such as RemOil, Bore Snakes, and Pocket Knives (4 ˝” lock blade). Cash donations are vital to our ability to acquire these items aswell as pay for the postage to ship each box.
