WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The E.P.A. is cutting emissions on large vehicles that travel on our nation's highways.
The agency announced new fuel economy requirements for those vehicles today. Long haul trucks, school buses and large pickup trucks will have to cut fuel consumption and emissions by up to 20%. The new standards will apply beginning with 2014 year models.
This is the first time that the agency has put fuel economy requirements on these vehicles.
