MIDLAND -- A woman was taken to the hospital after a roof collapsed on her in Midland Tuesday.
The roof collapse occurred around 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Blooming Rose flower shop on 1705 W. Wall Street. Wanda Watkins was trapped under the roof for about 10 minutes. Watkins, 72, owns the flower shop. She was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital where she was conscious and alert.
Assistant Fire Marshall David Hickman said a building in the area appeared to be under renovation and its roof wasn't well supported. The exact cause of this collapse is still unknown, but wind gusts could have been a factor.
