Two Killed in House Fire

Updated: November 14, 2010

Two people are dead after a house catches fire in Andrews. Now investigators are trying to figure out how it began. This happened around 9 o'clock Saturday morning at 809 Northeast 3rd Street. When authorities arrived they found an elderly man and a toddler safe outside the house. Unfortunately, a 75-year-old woman and 4-year-old child were trapped inside...and died as a result of that fire.

Chief Jones of the Andrews Police Department told us they have ruled out arson, but they're still unsure of how the fire began. The Red Cross is trying to help out the family in every way possible.

"We're going to take of their immediate needs which at this point is grandpa, but we're going to take care of food, clothing, make sure he has clothing for the next few days. So I will be meeting with them to see what we can do," Liz Posey, Disaster Relief with American Red Cross, said.

The Red Cross also said they are overwhelmed by the support from the Andrews community. We'll keep you updated as that investigation continues.
