MONAHANS -- The weather was dry and breezy in the Permian Basin Monday, and as a result, red flag warnings were issued all over the area.
There were also plenty of grass  Monday, including a large one south of Monahans. The blaze covered a lot of ground between Monahans and Grandfalls and threatened some structures in the area.
Big 2 has no reports of any homes burning or fire related injuries in the area, but anyone living in that area should be careful, since the winds can spread the blaze.
Several different counties have sent their crews into the field to tackle the flames. It's believed that a chain that was hitting a road and causing sparks to fly in several areas started the fire.
