When you think of going green, you probably think of recycling cans, paper and things of that nature. But as our world grows more and more technologically advanced, it's becoming more and more important for us to understand how to properly dispose of our electronic devices.
Since today is America Recycles Day, the Geek Squad is offering up some tips.
Tip #1 - Try to reuse your equipment before it's recycled. For example, if you think your computer is no longer usable, take it to Best Buy. The Geek Squad can look it over and tell you if can it can be restored.
Tip #2 - Use an external hard drive, portable USB drive, CD/DVD or online data backup server to save important information before you dispose of your computer. After it's saved, delete everything!
Tip #3 - Recycle! Best Buy accepts almost all electronic devices that need to be recycled. You can also earn in-store credit in exchange for certain items.
Smaller items, like rechargeable batteries and printer cartridges, can be dropped at most recycling kiosks.
