SEMINOLE -- A Gaines County man will be spending the rest of his life in prison for his role in a brutal beating.
Paul Torres was sentenced on Thursday for a March incident where he beat up his girlfriend. Gaines County Sheriff John Key tells Big 2 that Torres, 50, beat his girlfriend with a baseball bat repeatedly, breaking both her legs and leaving her severely bruised. Torres told the victim to tell police a fake story about what happened to her.
The victim survived the attack. Torres' sister found the woman and helped E.M.S. take her to the hospital.
Torres has already started serving his sentence.
