Christmas is 26 days away. And the Miracle on Tyler Street is just around the corner. Darlene Mays with the Greater Ideal Family Life Center explains the upcoming event.

December 1, 2010 - Tree Lighting Ceremony, Miracle on Tyler Street 2010, 6:30pm.

December 18, 2010 - Miracle on Tyler Street 2010, 6pm - 9pm.

Miracle on Tyler Street began in 2008 with a Christmas village and winter wonderland park setup in the Life Center parking lot at 301 S. Tyler and a food/gift giveaway for families and children of Midland.

Greater Ideal Family Life Center, Greater Ideal Baptist Church, Stonegate Fellowship and many other churches and individuals are currently working to construct the village and will be officially lighting the tree on December 1, at 6:30pm.

The Miracle on Tyler Street event will take place on December 18, 6pm - 9pm.  Food Baskets for 250 families will be handed out as well as bicycles, gift cards and toys.  Santa will be on-hand to hear Christmas wishes and the evening will also include dinner and a variety of entertainment.

The Greater Ideal Family Life Center is currently in its eighth year of operation.  Its purpose is to provide the citizens of Midland, primarily the southeast area, a facility and programs to improve the quality of life and educational opportunities.  The Center is available without restrictions as to gender, race or religion.
