LaHood Opposed To Street Sign Changes

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Not everyone agrees that street signs should be changed around the country.
Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood says the changes are ridiculous. LaHood said in a statement Tuesday that changing the signs makes no sense. He noted that that local governments shouldn't have to waste money on new signs when the old ones are "perfectly good traffic signs."
The U.S. Department of Transportation is now asking for the public's input on the rules and deadlines. The new regulations are aimed at making streets safer by making signs easier to read.
