AUSTIN -- One in four Texans has missing money that's waiting to be claimed from the state's Unclaimed Property fund.
On Sunday, West Texans will have a chance to check the Annual Unclaimed Property List in the regional newspapers. According to the Odessa American, every person on the list has at least $250, abandoned stock certificates, or safe deposit box contents of unknown value that they can claim. The West Texas Unclaimed Property List will appear in the Sunday editions of The Odessa American, Midland Reporter-Telegram, and The El Paso Times.
In an effort to reunite people with their money, Texas Comptroller Susan Combs will publish six regional Unclaimed Property lists in more than 30 Texas newspapers between December 2010 and April 2011.
