MIDLAND -- After facing criminal charges, a Midland County Constable has announced he is retiring.

Choc Harris was charged with two counts of tampering with government records over the summer, after being accused of improperly filing paperwork. He was in court Tuesday, and now the constable has announced he will step down from his position in January.

A special prosecutor has been brought in from Brazos County to hear the case. The county will have to find a replacement for Harris.
