BIG SPRING -- A woman is dead after a bad car crash in Big Spring.

The accident happened just after 10 PM Wednesday. Gabriel Paredez, 23, was driving north on Gregg Street when his car went off the road and hit a traffic light pole. Paredez and his mother  - 55 year-old Olga Hernandez  - were taken to Scenic Mountain Medical Center with severe injuries. Hernandez died a short time later.

Big Spring Police say alcohol wasn't a factor in the crash and that both victims were wearing seat belts. They say Paredez might have had a seizure behind the wheel.

    The investigation is ongoing.
