Each holiday season, the Texas General Land Office makes historic map reproductions available for purchase. They make the perfect gift for every history buff and any proud Texan.
The colorful, hand-drawn maps, some dating back to the 1700's, tell the story of Texas. They are beautiful works of art, perfect for the home, office or classroom.
Some maps show historic details such as ghost towns, forts, Spanish missions and original Texas colonies. Other maps depict the growth of Texas cities from their original settlement.
Among the most popular are early maps of the Republic of Texas from the early 1840's. Early maps of Texas cities and each of the 254 counties in the Lone Star State are also a big hit.
Maps may be purchased online and delivered to your door. Most maps are just $20, with larger maps costing up to $40.
All the proceeds go directly toward preservation of other land office historic maps and documents.
