MIDLAND -- We are just 11 days away from Christmas, and many are still looking for that perfect gift. So, why not give the gift of Texas history?

The Texas General Land office each holiday season makes historic map reproductions available for purchase. They make the perfect gift for every history buff, and any proud Texan. These colorful hand drawn maps - some dating back to the 1700's - tell the story of Texas. Thousands of maps are available, from maps of early Texas cities to each of the 254 counties in the Lone Star State. All the proceeds going directly toward preservation of other Land Office historic maps and documents.

Most maps are just $20, with larger maps costing up to $40. To order a map, just go to www.savetexashistory.org
