Odessans Discuss Flint Hills Water Remediation Plan

ODESSA -- Some concerned Odessans were learning more about a plan that could bring changes to the old Flint Hills plant Tuesday night.
Odessa has applied for a municipal setting designation, which would allow them to remediate contaminated groundwater at the facility, which is vacant right now.
Tuesday's meeting was a chance for people to ask questions, and find out if this change could affect their water.
"Their concerns were how would this affect them, and the M.S.D., municipal services designation, would basically prohibit the use of groundwater for human water purposes," Allen Lassiter of Rice Remeditation told Big 2.
If passed, Lassiter assured people the remediation would have no affect on their water in their homes. The issue will go before the Odessa City Council on January 11th. If approved, it will then go to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for approval.
