MIDLAND -- A brush fire burned some land between Midland and Odessa and threatened a major highway Wednesday afternoon.

The blaze destroyed between 5 and 10 acres of land near the intersection of TX 191 and F.M. 1788. It broke out around 1:30 PM Wednesday.

Two fire units were able to put out that fire fairly quickly. But, the main problem was the smoke, which made visibility for drivers in the area very difficult during the afternoon.
