Grass Fire Burns Through 3,000 Acres

Yesterday's grass fires burned three-thousand acres across four different counties.
In odessa, hundreds of acres were on fire for all drivers south of interstate-20 to see.
11 different units were called to the scene, working together with Odessa Firefighters to contain the blaze.
It was a fire that could be seen everywhere in Odessa.
People from the Ranchito area were being evacuated as fire fighters and other units tried to contain these massive flames.
High winds pushed the flames eastward toward Grandview, where it got dangerously close to a gas distribution center.
It took fire fighters 6 hours to contain the flames.
Odessa Fire Officials say if it weren't for everyone working together, it could've been a disaster.
"Nobody was hurt, I am thankful for that, you know our personnel, all the agencies that responded to this did an outstanding job on this, you know I can't say enough about that," said Asisstant Fire Chief, John Alvarez.
Fire trucks came in from Crane, West odessa, Midland county among others too help.
Alvarez says he hopes fires like the one yesterday will make people realize burn bans, are neccesary this time of year.
They also want to stress that if no one follows the burn ban, we're going to see more fires like the one we saw yesterday.
