Three Odessans Arrested On Drug Charges

ODESSA -- Three Odessans are under arrest after a police search.

    Alfredo Cortez, 50, Blanca Cortez, 49 and Albert Cortez, 27 are behind bars. All are charged with possession of ecstasy, and Albert Cortez is also charged with possession of marijuana.

    Earlier today, Odessa Police and a SWAT team searched two homes belonging to the suspects at 21st and Redbud.

    Officers and a SWAT team arrived at on the block around 7 AM Friday. A K-9 unit is also on the scene. Jesse Duarte of O.P.D.'s Special Investigations Unit told Big 2 early in the afternoon that the units were searching for records and documents in the homes. They also investigated Alfredo's Paleteria on 410 West University.

    Duarte said the investigation has been ongoing for several years.

    The homes that were under investigation are near Reagan Elementary. That school was never evacuated, but the police search made it tough for parents to get their kids to school in the morning.
