MIDLAND - Family promises is a new organization here Midland hoping to help homeless families with children. But to begin their work, the organization needed a home themselves, and that's what they got this Christmas. This may look like the house next door, but what will happen behind these walls will help many homeless families find jobs and provide them with the resources they need.
" The day center is an amazing opportunity for families to come and work with the director and stop inter generational poverty. " Said Tracey Dees, board member of Family Promises.
But this day center could not have been possible if it was not for the generous donation from the visually impaired network. They used this home to serve the visually impaired, but since the organization has recently dissolved, they decided to donate to another agency who will help the midland community.
"I'm glad our facility will continue to serve the community of midland, its a changing of the guard." Said Vera Yielding, executive director of Vision Assistance Network.
Doors to this day center will be open in February and now that the grassroots organizations found its roots right here in Midland, Family Promises hopes to make a big change here in the community.
" The next couple of years we want to be present for our homeless families in midland and help them find affordable housing. We can try to alleviate homeless one family at a time. " Said Gary Groves, President of Family Promises.
