MIDLAND -- A woman is dead and a man is injured after a motorcycle crash in Midland.

The crash happened on the 1700 block of Loop 250 just after 10 PM Sunday. Police say 29-year old Zachary Hernandez was driving his motorcycle north on the service road of the loop when he lost control of the bike, swerved into the highway median and crashed.

Hernandez and 22-year old Heidi Evans -- who was riding on the back of the motorcycle -- were both taken to Midland Memorial Hospital. Evans died before she could be treated there.

Hernandez was airlifted to Lubbock, where he's in critical but stable condition.

Police say neither victim was wearing a helmet. Police are still investigating the crash, but they say alcohol might have been a factor.
